After over three years of intensive collaboration, the CircThread project has officially concluded, marking a significant milestone in the journey toward a more circular, transparent, and data-driven product lifecycle across Europe.
Funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, CircThread brought together 31 partners from 11 countries to co-develop and pilot 13 digital services aimed at improving product traceability, reusability, and end-of-life decision-making.
Key achievements include:
- The development and testing of the Digital Product Passport
- Demonstrations in four real-life pilots across Slovenia, Italy, Spain, and Turkey
- Tools to identify materials, substances of concern, and potential reuse pathways
- Strategic contributions to standardisation, policy, and business models for circularity
The Slovenian pilot—led by SIMAVI and involving partners such as Gorenje, Zeos, Surovina, and SkyLabs—played a critical role in validating legacy product data services and circularity assessment tools.
We are proud of the knowledge, tools, and collaborations that have emerged from CircThread and look forward to their continued impact beyond the life of the project.
