Addressing global challenges such as climate change, population growth, and resource depletion, an innovative project introduces a transformative approach to renewable energy production, distribution, and consumption. The sustainable cities of tomorrow hinge on reducing carbon emissions, minimizing water usage, and fostering an urban environment that seamlessly integrates food, water, and energy resources (FEW).

The DEM4PED project leverages Blockchain technology to manage distributed energy resources (DER) and incorporate renewable energy sources. This cutting-edge system enables secure energy transactions and optimizes resource utilization. Smart contracts and decentralized applications (DaaP) empower prosumers—entities that produce and consume energy—to efficiently manage their energy activities.

As a technical partner, SIMAVI applies Artificial Intelligence and advanced data analysis algorithms to streamline energy flows and optimize system performance.

Core Objectives of the Solution

  • Deploy Blockchain technology to manage distributed energy resources and enable secure, efficient transactions.
  • Develop a flexible platform to facilitate energy trading between prosumers.
  • Enhance energy flow management through AI-driven data analysis and advanced algorithms.

Key Deliverables of the DEM4PED Project

  • PEDNET-Blockchain Test Net V.1 (SaaS): A tailor-made blockchain platform enabling rapid user enrollment into smart contracts for renewable energy.
  • Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Model: A framework integrating distributed energy sources to optimize energy production and consumption.
  • Innovative Technological Ecosystem: Incorporating IoT, intelligent energy storage, and AI-powered analytics for decision-making and operational efficiency.

The project also provides practical solutions for local energy utilization, such as using photovoltaic panels to generate energy, with surplus power traded with neighbors via smart contracts or decentralized applications (DaaP). Furthermore, additional renewable sources, including wind and hydrogen energy, will be integrated to diversify energy production and meet varied consumer demands.

This initiative exemplifies how emerging technologies address contemporary energy challenges while driving growth in the energy sector at local and global scales. As the first competitive application targeting Europe’s R&D projects, DEM4PED aims to expand the integration of small-scale photovoltaic producers and consumers to include private and public entities across all scales.
